10 Study Tips for International Students

15 April 2026 Β· 6 min read

Adjusting to a new academic culture takes more than hard work. These habits make the first semester easier.

Studying abroad means adapting to new expectations around independent learning, referencing standards and academic honesty. Build these habits early and the rest of your degree becomes easier.

Read your module handbook properly, attend office hours in your first month, and learn your university's referencing style before your first assignment is due.

Plan backwards from deadlines, keep a single calendar for every submission, and protect two deep-work blocks each week for reading.

Finally, ask for help early. Support is far more effective two weeks before a deadline than two days before it.
